Descrizione vino

The red wine Lago di Caldaro DOC Alto Adige is a light wine with very few tannins with a color that can changes from a clear ruby red to a more bright ruby red one. The taste is light and fruity with a light bitter almond hint. The DOC denomination is Alto Adige Lago di Caldaro. The grapes used for this fantastic wine belong to the Schiava variety cultivated at Ronchi di Termeno where the soils are calcareous, clay and pebbly. The profit is 85 hectoliters per hectare. The grapes are destemmed and they have to ferment at 25°C in stainless steel tanks. In the same barrels occurs the malolactic fermentation which naturally develops.

 

Characteristics of the wine Lago di Caldaro Classico Superiore DOC

The technical characteristics of this fantastic and refined wine intend the remaining sugars of 2,8 g/l, the acidity of 4,4 g/l and  the proof of 12,4 %. It can be aged 2-4 years. It has a clear ruby red color that with the aging acquire compactness and brightness. The scent is enveloping, with floral and fruity aromas. In the aged version there are also some honey and cinnamon flavors. The taste is light and fruity with a light bitter almond hint.

 

Suggested pairings with this red wine from the Tramin winery

The main matches are with starters and with typical Tyrolean products such as cold cuts like speck but also white meats and sweet cheeses. It is perfect also between meals. It has to be served at 14°-16°C in a Bordeaux wine glass.
