Wine Characteristics
Wine Description
This label represents the conscientious and refined ability of the Colterenzio technicians to make wine from the native grapes of Alto Adige. Vinification involves the use of 80% Merlot grape variety with 20% Cabernet. Coming from espalier plants of 15-20 years, with a density of 5,000 plants per hectare. The origin of the vineyards is located at an altitude of about 250 up to 430 meters above sea level. The vines arise on soils composed of morainic and porphyritic deposits of alluvial origin. Vinification involves fermentation on the skins with subsequent maceration for 7-10 days. Malolactic fermentation in barriques follows. The first blending of the two varieties takes place in spring, followed by aging in small oak barrels for 14 months. After careful filtration and bottling, the wine ages for 12 months in the bottle.
