Torrazzo is a red wine from the Pratello winery produced in the Valtènesi area, on the moraine hills of Lake Garda. It was born from the blend of Groppello and Marzemino grapes, native grape varieties that represent the historical identity of the Garda area. The wine stands out for its style marked by lightness, elegance, and drinkability, interpreting the tradition of Valtènesi reds in a modern and more immediate way. The grapes come from vineyards grown on pebbly moraine soils of glacial origin, located at about 200 meters above sea level, well ventilated and with excellent exposure. The harvest is manual and selective. After harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and subjected to maceration on the skins, followed by alcoholic fermentation for approximately 15–18 days at a controlled temperature between 22 and 24 °C. Malolactic fermentation in steel then takes place, where the wine matures for about 6 months, followed by further aging in the bottle for about 6 months before being put on the market.
Characteristics of this wine from the Pratello Winery
In the calyx it has a clear and bright ruby red colour. On the nose it is delicate but expressive, with notes of undergrowth, purple and red fruits such as cherry, raspberry and currant. On the palate it is fresh and smooth, with fine, elegant tannins and good acidity that supports its drinkability. The sip is harmonious, light but characterized by a pleasant fruity complexity that makes it immediate and versatile.
Recommended pairings with this white wine
Torrazzo is an extremely versatile wine, suitable for a full meal. It pairs well with simple, everyday dishes like pasta, pizza, cured meats, and white meats, but also surprises with fattier lake fish thanks to its freshness and acidity. The recommended serving temperature is approximately 14–16 °C, in a large tulip glass, to enhance its fragrance and finesse.
