The Rocco River rises in the Valtènesi area, on the Brescia shore of Lake Garda, in an area characterized by glacial moraine soils and a mild climate influenced by the lake. It is a rosé obtained from a blend of native and traditional local grape varieties: Groppello, Sangiovese, Barbera, and Marzemino, varieties that represent the historical basis of Garda rosé wines.
Winemaking follows a more structured style than many rosés in the area: after manual harvesting, the grapes undergo a short maceration to extract color and aromas, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation. In some interpretations, some of the wine can evolve into wood, helping to give greater complexity and depth, distinguishing it from simpler and more immediate rosés.
Characteristics of this wine from the Pratello Winery
In the chalice it has an elegant pink color, often tending towards powder or pale copper. On the nose it expresses a more intense profile than traditional rosés, with notes of small red fruits such as strawberry, raspberry and currant, accompanied by floral nuances and light spicy sensations. On the palate it is balanced and structured, with a good softness supported by freshness and flavour typical of the Garda area. The sip is full but harmonious, with a persistence that recalls fruity notes and a slight mineral component.
Recommended pairings with this rosé wine
Suitable not only for aperitif but also for a full meal. It pairs well with Mediterranean dishes, first courses with light sauces, white meats, cured meats and also with more flavorful preparations thanks to its structure. Interesting pairing with lake fish or lightly spiced dishes. The ideal service temperature is between 12 and 14 °C, so as to enhance both its freshness and the more structured component.
