This red wine from the Piedmontese winery Bava is made exclusively from Albarossa grapes: a Piedmontese variety resulting from a cross between the elegance of Nebbiolo di Dronero and the freshness of Barbera. Created in 1938, this grape variety has only begun to gain popularity in the last 10 years, partly thanks to its DOC designation. This wine takes its name from the Rosingana hill, characterised by south-west facing vineyards at around 350 metres above sea level, on particularly fertile clay soils. The harvest involves picking very ripe grapes, which are then fermented for around ten days: the wine is then aged in stainless steel with periodic racking and bottled one year after the harvest.
Characteristics of this Piedmont wine
It has a very intense and deep red colour. The bouquet is reminiscent of red fruits and spices, and on the palate it impresses with intense tannins and good structure.
Recommended pairings with this red wine from Cantina Bava
Particularly suitable with red meat dishes, mushroom risotto and truffle-based dishes. Serve at a temperature of 16–18°C.
