Lugana RISERVA "Sergio Zenato" DOC ZENATO
The Lugana Riserva Sergio Zenato comes from the company's most historic vineyards and only in certain years that allow a longevity of this vine. Sergio Zenato immediately believed in the Lugana and he proposed an aging in wood just to enhance its longevity, so as to put his signature on the label.The vinification involves the use of only 100% Trebbiano di Lugana grapes. The geographical location is Peschiera del Garda at the south of the lake. The exposition of the vineyards is to the South. The grapes come exclusively from the Massoni estate, the oldest and most historic vineyard of the winery. The cultivation is located at 80 meters above the sea level, and the type of soil is clay. The cultivation method is the classic Guyot system. The average age of the vines is 50 years. The density per hectare is 80 quintals.The harvest period is slightly late (mid-October), this allows to give a unique expression of this vine with great structure and particular longevity. The vinification involves the fermentation which occurs for about 70% in 50 hl oak barrels and 30% in steel. It follows an aging for about 6 months in new barrels and tonneaux followed by 12 months in bottle before the commercialization.
Characteristics of the Lugana Riserva Sergio Zenato DOC
In appearance, this wine has a light yellow color with bright reflections. The nose perfume shows fine floral, citrus and exotic fruit notes. The taste is of good thickness, balanced and mineral.
