The history of one of those legendary wineries of Italy born in the 70’s and in 1978 the American-Italian brothers John and Harry Mariani started the cultivation of grapes in Montalcino and they founded a modern and innovative winery. The invented a method that has been copied from others and the main goal has always been the quality of the products. Together with the two brothers there was also one of the most renamed oenologist in Italy Ezio Rivella which thought that the soil’s richness and the climatic condition could be the best characteristic to become one of the most renamed winery in that days. In fact for many years the Castello Banfi winery has been a model for the USA and for Italy and it spread the Montalcino’s wines which have achieved a modern aroma. Today the estate is on the border of the Orcia Valley and it is composed by 2830 hectares cultivated for 1/3 with vineyards and the remaining part with olives, fruits, wood and uncultivated areas. The winery owns the most technologic machines to experiment and among the 7 thousand barrels it is produced the elegant and fascinating wines synonym of Montalcino in the world. Today the company has spread and owns territories in Piedmont, Emilia and South America and it distributes its prestigious wine worldwide. One of those few ambient where it can co-exist quantity and quality.
