Poggio alla Guardia Vigne Alte di Rocca di Frassinello is a red wine from the Tuscan Maremma obtained from a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and a small percentage of Syrah, sourced from vineyards located near the winery in Gavorrano. The peculiarity of this label is that it is born from a more careful selection of grapes than Poggio alla Guardia classica, with a slight additional presence of Syrah which contributes to increasing elegance and aromatic complexity. Winemaking takes place in temperature-controlled steel, and the wine is then aged in concrete tanks for approximately twelve months, followed by a period of rest in the bottle, a choice that favors freshness and varietal expression without the influence of wood.
Characteristics of this Tuscan wine
From an organoleptic point of view it has an intense ruby red colour with purplish reflections. On the nose it is rich and concentrated, with notes of ripe red and black fruit such as plum and blackberry, accompanied by hints of spices, black pepper and light shades of chocolate and aromatic herbs. In the mouth it is full and soft, with a good structure and a tannic texture present but well integrated, supported by a freshness that makes the sip dynamic and smooth. The finish is spicy, clean and of medium-long persistence, with fruity and slightly mineral returns.
Recommended pairings with this red wine from Rocca di Frassinello
It is a very versatile wine that is best expressed with roast meats, stews and stewed preparations, but also with aged cheeses that balance its softness and spicy component. It is also suitable for typical Tuscan and Maremma dishes, where its structure and character blend well with intense, traditional flavors. The ideal service temperature is around 16-18 °C.
