“Barolo Lazzarito”, produced by Vietti, praises the denomination “Barolo DOCG”. Single variety wine making with 100% Nebbiolo grapes coming from the single vineyard “Lazzarito”, in Serralunga d’Alba, that counts 4500 plants per hectare. The age swings around 35 years old. The lands have a south-east exposition and are mainly composed by clay and limestone. The cultivation surface covers 2 hectares. The fermentation process is managed in steel containers and lasts 4 weeks. During this phase, the must stays in contact with the peels, developing maceration before and after fermentation with the ancient method called “submerged cap”. The malolactic fermentation in wood is set before the aging that has to last at least 30 months, in which the wine rest in barriques and oak barrels. This product comes from the crü “Lazzarito”, one of the most important in the district of Serralunga d’Alba. 39 years-old vines, 26 days fermentation/maceration, 32 months aging (7 in barrique; 25 in big oak barrels) and a year maturation in the bottle. An excellent wine with a great predisposition for the aging.
Features of “Barolo Lazzarito DOCG” produced by Vietti
Deep garnet red colour with classy orange shades. Its scent is refined and intense, with hints of mature fruits, liquorice, smoked, tobacco and balsamic. The rich taste is characterized by strong tannins and minerals that, nevertheless, are balanced with harmony. Good persistence.
Great with meats that require long preparations but it can be suggested with main dishes, mushrooms, truffles and important cheeses too. It has to be served at 18° C and reaches an alcoholic strength of 14,5% Vol.
