This Nero d'Avola "Calanìca" from the Sicilian winery Duca di Salaparuta is produced with 100% Nero d'Avola grapes, grown in the vineyards located in the central-western part of the island. At the end of the harvest which takes place in the second half of September, the grapes ferment and refine in steel; then the wine is bottled and it is in the bottle that this Sicilian red wine remains in aging for a month, before being sold.
Characteristics of this Sicilian wine
To the organoleptic examination it appears as a ruby red wine; the nose is intense, with hints of red berried fruits. In the mouth it is harmonious and with a nice aromatic persistence.
Suggested food pairings while tasting this Sicilian wine
It is a perfect red wine paired with white meats, mushroom-based dishes or medium-aged cheeses. To be served at a temperature of 15-17°C in a not very large glass.
