This Piedmont red wine is made from Nebbiolo-Barbera grapes harvested in the vineyards of Monforte d'Alba. The soils here are silty, with good sand and limestone; the vineyards are exposed from the south and southwest, and the altitude ranges from 300 to 400 meters above sea level. Production of this Langhe DOC Rosso Monprà begins relatively late, as the harvest takes place around mid-October. This is followed by maceration and alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled steel, followed by malolactic fermentation in wood. The final refinement phase takes place in French oak wood. The final assembly of the two wines is carried out before bottling.
Characteristics of this Piedmont wine
It has a dark garnet red color. The olfactory profile evokes notes of jams, pepper, violets and coffee. On the palate it has an elegant, well-structured tannic texture.
Recommended pairings with this red wine from Conterno Fantino
Excellent with red meat dishes such as chopped, roasted, boiled and stewed. Try it with pasta with ragù or with tasty sauces and with mushroom risotto. Serve at 14°C.
