Produced with 100% organic Frappato grapes grown near Syracuse, this Sicilian wine from the Baglio di Pianetto winery is born on clay and limestone soils located at an altitude of 700 m above sea level. The harvest is strictly by hand and leads to the collection of carefully selected bunches which are then subjected to soft pressing. This is followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled steel and a final aging phase in steel for 9 months and finally in the bottle for 3 months.
Characteristics of this Sicilian wine
It has a pale, bright ruby red color. On the nose, intense scents of small red fruits, cherry, raspberry, blackberry and wild strawberry emerge, accompanied by floral notes of purple and pink and light herbaceous and spicy nuances. On the palate it is fresh, lively and balanced, with silky tannins, good flavour and a dry, elegant and persistent closure.
Recommended pairings with this Sicilian red wine
This organic Frappato pairs very well with cured meat and cheese appetizers, traditional Sicilian first courses, tomato pastas, fish soups, and bluefin tuna. Also excellent with sushi, sashimi, white meats, mushrooms and lightly spiced Mediterranean dishes. Served slightly fresh, it is also particularly versatile as an aperitif wine. Serve at a temperature of 16-18°C.
