This red wine from the Sicilian Cusumano winery was born from the use of pure Nerello Mascalese grapes, sourced from 100-year-old vineyards planted with saplings at 650 m above sea level in the Feudi di Mezzo district. This wine is part of the Alta Mora line, created to evoke the salient characteristics of the area: Alta refers to the altitude of the vineyards located between 600 and 800 m above sea level and Mora evokes the dark color of volcanic earth, the blackberry or lava on which the vineyards grow and which gives the wine its typical minerality. After manual harvesting, the bunches are destemmed and then macerated at a temperature of 28°C for approximately 18-21 days. Once the wooden malolactic has also been completed, the final aging phase is reached in 25 hectolitre barrels and tonneaux for 16-18 months.
Characteristics of this Sicilian wine
It has a deep ruby red color while the olfactory notes resemble ripe fruit, mineral notes and spices. On the palate it is rich, full and pleasantly persistent.
