Cabernet Sauvignon "Vigna San Francesco" DOC Tasca d'Almerita

In the local dialect it is defined as “the foreigner”; Cabernet Sauvignon grows good on the soils full of sand, loam, clay that characterize the hill of San Francesco, located at 600 meters elevation. In 1985 was created one of the most representative labels of Tasca winery and of the entire Sicily. The aging is managed in new barriques for 18 months. The result is an austere and elegant product. It is composed by 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, cultivated in vineyards that cover 9 hectares of the surface of the estate, placed in the district of Palermo, in the heart of Sicily. It was the first single variety wine making realized with Cabernet Sauvignon in Sicily. This wine was praised a lot of times for its personality and the originality with which it expresses its provenience. Sicilia Cabernet Sauvignon IGT is a powerful red wine rich of elegance, create by a vineyard planted in 1985. In that period, nobody could expect the cultivation of international varieties in the local territories. The count Lucio Tasca imagined its potentiality and insisted in its valorisation. This took the region to the authorisation in 1988.

Features of “Cabernet Sauvignon Contea di Sclafani DOC”

Intense ruby red colour, typical of the wine produced in Sicily. Its scent has a Mediterranean touch, with wild fruits, spices, black pepper, tobacco, cinnamon and vanilla. The taste is rich and elegant, characterized by soft, persistent tannins that male it balanced.

Perfect with roasted or grilled meat and excellent with game. It has to be served at 16°C in a high, wide wine glass that praises the perfumes.
