Fattoria Giuseppe Savini
The Winery Giuseppe Savini is located in Abruzzo, in the province of Teramo, a few miles from the sea about 300 meters above sea level, situated in a particularly privileged and sunny position.
The vineyards extend for more than 80 hectares. We find native and international varieties: Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, Pecorino, Chardonnay, Cabernet, Syrah, Merlot and Sangiovese.
The company was founded in 1949 and still today his conduction is exclusively familiar.
The newly renovated basement is the real jewel of the company, next to it in a centuries-old building is located the room where the wines are aged in wooden barriques and remain at rest with the perfect condition of light , humidity and temperature.
Interview with producer
Which are the future projects for your cellar?
We would like to expand in new markets and to let know our wine to those who still not have the pleasure to taste them.
In your opinion, how much is important the improvement of the quality of the wines you produce?
This is an important point which permits to enter in new markets. The online sell could be a good sector where we can do our best.
If you have to convince a customer to buy your wine, what would you say to him?
You do not know what you are missing, if you do not taste before. I would suggest to all the consumers to taste the wines before judging them.
Which is your favorite thing of your work, and which is the worst?
In my work the achievement of the goals is the main thing, but unfortunately we are living in a moment where the BUREAUCRACY restricts your possibilities and in fact this is the thing I like the LESS!
If the Prime Minister would call you and he would ask you a wine for a very important dinner, which wine would you suggest him, and why?
In our selection there are products which can satisfy all kind of palates but for the Prime Minister I would suggest our Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOCG Riserva Savini which has to be tasted with wide strip of pasta with boar meat sauce and, as second course, a game roast with “patate al coppo” (a traditional way to cook the potatoes in Abruzzo).
If he prefers the fish, I would address him to our typical Guazzetto alla Marinara joined by our Pecorino IGT that you can even find online on Uritalianwines. This wine is a young wine whose scent can stands out the sea flavors.
If you have to give an advice to all the cellars of your territory, what would you advice?
I do not feel like giving an advice but I’d like to make a joke: leave some space also to the wine of the Giuseppe Savini Farm, so maybe… step aside! I joke of course.
In the last years the web commerce is expanding a lot, the online wine shops are growing up more and more; how do you consider this market news?
We are organizing in that sense, for sure is an innovative and interesting market. You have to follow it to avoid then to chase it!
Why have you decided to commit the sale of the wines to the online wine shop Uritalianwines?
Because this online wine shop convinced us for their work method because I saw that for the realization of their wine catalog they made an accurate selection by travelling all around the territory. This is essential because today the consumers cannot do that, like travelling all around Italy to taste the wines. The Uritalianwines has selected its own cellars by going directly in those cellars and it has empathized with the consumers to try to let know all the cellars, wine shops and information concerning those.
Then I admit that with this online wine shop is growing something interesting to increase and I would wish all the best to Uritalianwines.
Which is the wine you would suggest to the online Uritalianwines customers and why?
I would suggest to try all different typologies and years wines because they are all to be tasted as they are for all the palates from the most fine to the less.
