Terre Siciliane "Frappato Contrada Pettineo" OCCHIPINTI
From the vinification of grapes from the Frappato di Vittoria vines rigorously reared with organic farming, no chemical intervention. Its origini s linked to Pettineo an historical district beyond the promontory of Serra San Bartolo: it has always produced very elegant wines thanks to a layer of loose and deep marine sand (50-60 cm) with little presence of calcareous pebbles. Our “Chiusa di Pettineo” is almost 60 years old and is an old tree that the previous owner transformed into a sort of espalier, making the plants that now also have monumental shapes climb between the pylons. Closed wines are usually fruity with a more silky tannin and sustained acidity. Only 2,700 bottles of this wine are produced. Harvest takes place during the first ten days of October. Vinification involves indigenous yeasts, 30 days maceration on the skins. Aging takes place for 14 months in 25-hectolitre Slavonian oak barrels, 1 month in bottle. No filtration.
