Grechetto Umbria Perticaia
The white wine Grechetto of the Perticaia winery has the IGT certification which certifies the “Typical Geographical Indication”. It is made by the blend of 90% Grechetto and 10% Trebbiano Spoletino grapes. The Grechetto harvest takes place in September while the Trebbiano Spoletino in October. There is a manual picking and especially in September it is done during colder moments: early in the morning or after the sunset. There is a soft pressing of the grapes submitted to the inert gas influence. It follows the cold fermentation which permits the clarification of the static must. Then it takes place the fermentation of the clean must in stainless steel tanks under temperature control between 15°C and 16°C . The aging firstly takes place on the fine lees for 6 months, produced by the fermenting yeasts, and finally 6 months in bottle.
Characteristics of the Grechetto wine from Umbria
The white wine Grechetto of the Perticaia winery has a straw yellow color with typical gold reflections which are the mark of the Grechetto grapes. The marked aromas are the yellow peach, the apricots and the chamomile with typical citron flavors. The taste has a good structure with a pleasant final tannin and intense taste.
Suggested pairings with the white wine Grechetto
The Grechetto Perticaia is perfect with sauces, pizza, soups and soft cheeses. It is perfect with soft tastes such as a light meat sauce. The Grechetto can age for 2/3 years if properly conserved. It has to be served at 14°C in wide wine glasses for the bouquet spreading.
