Rocca di Frassinello
Rocca di Frassinello is one of the most interesting and innovative wineries in the Italian wine scene, born from a major international collaboration project between Italy and France. Its history begins in the early 2000s, when the Ricasoli family (a historic Tuscan wine dynasty) and the French house Domaines Barons de Rothschild-Lafite decided to combine expertise and experience to create an excellent winery in Maremma, in the heart of Tuscany. The project was designed by architect Renzo Piano, who conceived a unique structure, perfectly integrated into the hilly landscape. One of Rocca di Frassinello's most famous features is its architecture: the winery is partly underground and built around a large central square, inspired by Italian squares, which serves as the company's operational and symbolic heart. The spaces are designed to combine productive functionality and aesthetic value, with a strong focus on sustainability and local integration. From an oenological point of view, the winery represents a meeting point between Tuscan tradition and French know-how. The wines produced enhance Sangiovese, often blended with international grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, giving rise to labels of great structure and elegance. Not just a winery, therefore, but a cultural and architectural project as well as a viticultural one, which unites two great schools of European wine into a single identity.
