From the Castello di Pomino by Frescobaldi estate, a wine that represents the pure essence of Chardonnay grapes, vinified in 100% purity. Benefizio Riserva tells the story of Chardonnay in Tuscany. This variety was introduced into the Estate in 1855 - in 1878 Pomino received the gold medal at the Paris Expo for the quality of its wines. The origin of the grapes is included within the company and falls within the estate of Castello Pomino, Tuscany. The soils are at a height above sea level of 680 meters maximum 730 meters. The surface reaches an extension of 9 hectares. The exposure of the vines is towards the South-West. The type of soil on which they are raised is characterized by soils rich in sand, very draining. Rich in mineral elements and with an acidic or slightly acidic pH. The plant is made up of two sections, the first more resized with a maximum of 2,800 plants per hectare, while the second is more full-bodied and reaches 5,000 vines per hectare. The breeding is of the Guyot type, the age of the vineyards reaches an average of 20 years in both cases. Maceration in the winemaking process is partially developed for 12 hours at a controlled temperature of 5°C. Then follows the malolactic fermentation which is also partially carried out. The selected aging containers are those of new 50% French oak barrels, and the rest of a passage in the previous year. The aging time is 10 months in barrique and 4 in bottle.
Characteristics of the BENEFIZIO RISERVA Pomino Bianco Riserva DOC
The organoleptic test shows a bright yellow colour with beautiful golden reflections, shiny and clear. The aroma on the nose is expressed with the typical citrus hints of Chardonnay, with a prevalence of pink grapefruit and lemon peel jam, followed by delicate fragrances of vanilla and cinnamon. The taste is fresh, a pleasant blend of white flowers and elegant toasting with a finish reminiscent of a creamy mousse and white chocolate.
Suggested food pairings while tasting this excellent Frescobaldi white wine
It goes perfectly with tasty and light dishes. Excellent with vegetable creams, with baked sea bream, salmon steaks in foil, and with caviar. The ideal serving temperature is 10°C maximum 12°C.
