RONCO DEL GELSO

The Ronco del Gelso Winery is one of the most representative winemaking establishments in Friuli Venezia Giulia, located in Cormons, in the heart of the Isonzo del Friuli DOC, a border area between the plains and Collio characterized by gravelly, highly draining soils, ideal for the production of fine white wines and elegant reds. The history of the company is closely linked to the Badin family. The winery was founded at the end of the ’80 years thanks to Giorgio Badin, who in 1987-1988 started the wine project after a family tradition initially linked to agriculture and livestock farming. Since then, the company has grown steadily, becoming one of the most recognized companies in the Isonzo area for its quality and territorial identity. Today, Ronco del Gelso boasts approximately 25–26 hectares of vineyards and an annual production of around 150,000 bottles, maintaining an artisanal dimension but with strong organization and control of the entire production process, from the vineyard to bottling. Vineyard work is characterized by low yields and great qualitative attention, with the aim of obtaining healthy and concentrated grapes. The grape varieties grown include both international and indigenous varieties historically rooted in Friuli, such as Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Friulano, Malvasia Istriana and reds such as Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The winery's style is distinguished by a precise philosophy: to enhance the Isonzo Rive Alte area, with wines that aim to balance structure, elegance, and flavor, avoiding excessive standardization. Over time, the company has evolved a modern style consistent with local tradition, introducing wood refinements and techniques aimed at giving wines greater complexity and longevity without losing varietal freshness. From a production point of view, the cellar is equipped with a modern structure that allows complete control of all processing phases, from pressing to refining and even bottle storage. In short, Ronco del Gelso is a winery that combines family roots, a strong connection to the Isonzo area, and an oenological vision oriented towards precision and elegance, with wines recognizable for their aromatic cleanliness, balance, and ability to evolve over time.
