Descrizione vino

This wine is made by 100% Nebbiolo – Chiavennasca grapes. The Sassorosso vineyards are in the core of the Grumello area; the cultivation is made with the Guyot method on sandy soils located at 450 meters with a profit of 50 quintals per hectare for a careful selection of the grapes. The grape harvest takes place in October and the grapes macerate for 10 days at 26°C with several pumping over with a maximum of 6 times in a day in the first period. The refinement takes place in steel until December. Then 2/3 of the wine matures in French oak barrels of 20-50 hectoliters and the other part in barrels of 2°nd passage.

 

Characteristics of the Grumello Valtellina Superiore “SASSOROSSO” Docg

It has a garnet color with purple reflections. The smell is remarkable and ethereal with withered flowers aromas of violet and spices ones like the gloves and the cinnamon. The taste is dry, sapid, austere and elegant with pleasant, long and persistent end of dry almond. It is a particularly fine wine also round.

It is perfect with game, roasted red meats and aged cheeses. It must be served at 18°C in a Ballon wine glass. The proof is 13,50%.
