TENUTA FERTUNA
Tenuta Fertuna is a relatively young winemaking community located in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, an area that in recent decades has established itself as one of the most dynamic and promising areas of Italian viticulture. The name “Fertuna” was born from the union of the words fertility and fortune, to underline the deep connection with a generous land particularly suited to the production of quality wines. The company's history is tied to a modern project, developed with the aim of enhancing the potential of the area through a precise technical approach and a strong focus on quality. The vineyards extend over soils characterized by mineral-rich soils, with the presence of sands, clays and skeleton, ideal conditions for obtaining structured and elegant wines. The Maremma climate, tempered by the proximity of the sea and characterized by good temperature variations, favors optimal ripening of the grapes and contributes to the aromatic complexity of the wines. One of Tenuta Fertuna's unique features is its choice to focus on both international grape varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and native varieties, particularly Sangiovese, which is also interpreted in an innovative way, as in the case of the Droppello line, where it is vinified in white or used to produce classic method sparkling wines. This double soul allows the company to combine tradition and modernity, creating wines that combine territorial identity and international style. Another distinctive element is the attention to winemaking and refinement techniques: the calibrated use of wood, both in barriques and tonneaux, allows the characteristics of the grapes to be enhanced without obscuring their expressiveness. Furthermore, the careful selection of plots and grapes, together with low yields, helps ensure concentration and consistent quality. Tenuta Fertuna represents a significant example of the new Tuscan oenology: A company that, despite not having centuries-old historical roots, quickly built a strong identity, focusing on innovation, local enhancement, and the production of elegant, structured, and recognizable wines.
