The Vigna di gabri is a particular white wine of the Donnafugata cellar which has some peculiar local characteristics that absolutely increase the quality and refinement of this wine. It is a white fine and elegant wine, with an intense and complex bouquet where you can check apple fruit aromas with acacia, salt and mineral flavors. The grapes are cultivated in the neighbor areas of the central company located in Marsala. The vines, thanks to their optimal exposition, are pleased by sea winds that with the salt give to the grapes and so to the wine a great salty and mineral taste which increase the inner characteristics.
Characteristics of the Vigna di Gabri DOC wine
The wine Vigna di gabri is produced with the Ansonica grapes and depending on the years there are added some minor percentages of other local vines. The proof is between the 13 and the 13,5 degrees. For this vines is used the counter cultivation method and it is used the cordon spur pruning. The whole cultivation density is 5000 vine stocks per hectare and the production is about 60 q. per hectare. After a soft pressing the must is left fermenting under temperature control in steel tanks. It follows a 85% of refinement in tanks and the 15% in French oak barrels and finally 3 months of bottle refinement before the commercialization. It has some very intense and elegant scents. It goes from apple aromas to acacia, salt and mineral ones. The taste is charming and structured with a pleasant freshness and sapid aroma. It has a long persistence both in the scent than in the taste.

We suggest it in elegant and formal events. It is a very suitable red wine thanks to its mineral flavor and large freshness. It is perfect with fish course, white meats, braised or baked fish and soufflé. It is perfect with the salted codfish with tomatoes, vegetables and roasted porcini. It is perfect with typical courses of this territory such as the Caponata with tomato, the "Piscistocco" alla messinese and finally the “Linguine ai finferli”. It has to be served in medium large tulip wine glasses at 10 – 12° C.
