The wineries Salvano started their production in the years 30 in the farmhouse Grillo in the heart of the Langhe among the vineyards of Diano D'Alba in Piedmont.
The company Salvano Wines has undergone major changes since then, and made major innovations but has kept intact and alive the tradition wine tied to the wild hills of the Langhe, enhancing the flavors and aromas inseparable from the territory.
From the winery Salvano products are some of the most famous Italian red wines in the wine scene, like Dolcetto Diano d'Alba, intense flavor and round, or Nebbiolo d'Alba, a ruby red from vanilla aftertaste.
What about wine Barolo typical that the company Salvano retains for two years in oak barrels, where it acquires definitely his inimitable flavor.
Not only red wines in the production Salvano wines, in fact among the bottles of wine you can appreciate some of the best Italian grappa, a distillate aged to perfection to make memorable evenings.
Today the wines Salvano are known and appreciated all over the world, earn awards that gratify so love and commitment to create a high quality product.

Which are the future projects for your cellar?
In these last years the Italian market is become more and more difficult so since some years we focused on foreign markets in particular to the oriental ones and in the specific the Chinese. This is a huge market which is giving us satisfactions. Our future programs, which are on the agenda, are double. From one side to deal with the Italian situation and so keep the strength, from the other side a continuous research of markets all around the world.
In your opinion, how much is important the improvement of the quality of the wines you produce?
The quality is the basis of every Italian wine, and if you are a producer in the Langhe territory it is an obligation. For sure to obtain quality wines you do not need just an oenologist because the wine is making in the vineyard so our continuous research starts from the property vineyards, and from the conferrers which are our partners since 20 years.
If you have to convince a customer to buy your wine, what would you say to him?
It is very hard to answer. It depends on too many things: for sure I would try to understand what he is looking for and if he is a tester or a traditional person and if he is looking for something young or aged.
Personally I think the best wine is the one which find the taste of the person is drinking it, doesn’t matter the cost, the alcoholic degree or the leftover sugar quantity… the wine is the pleasure!
Which is your favorite thing of your work, and which is the worst?
I have a passion so the passion is never hard. What I do not like is to be a businessman in a Country where the burdens are higher than the honors. For sure one of the aspect which satisfy the most is thinking about that our wine could be drank and appreciate to every kind of person in any kind of situation from the most serious one to the “playful” one. The positive feedback of the final consumers is surely the best satisfaction.
If the Prime Minister would call you and he would ask you a wine for a very important dinner, which wine would you suggest him, and why?
As this is a particular and important dinner I would suggest a Barolo riserva match to a beef roasted meat.
In this wine and food match we can find the typical essence of our territory.
If you have to give an advice to all the cellars of your territory, what would you advice?
I would tell that union makes the strength, I would tell to watch over their borders, I would tell them to stop criticizing other producers such as the French ones but rather learn from them their foresight. I would tell them that travelling all around the world allows them to have open minded. On the other hand I would tell them to stay anchored to their territories and to always valorize the product of the land.
We have to share with all the people that we have the luck to live in one of the best and interesting land of the world.
In the last years the web commerce is expanding a lot, the online wine shops are growing up more and more; how do you consider this market news?
Personally I am a user of the web at 360° and I believe this is the future. There are some countries which are ahead compared us in the online sell but at the same time I think Italy will arrive soon to great goals.
Why have you decided to commit the sale of the wines to the online wine shop Uritalianwines?
The choice has come first of all for the respect of the project. It is very hard for us to choose the online seller which has the right channel to arrive to the final customer. We do not hesitate in accepting that.
Which is the wine you would suggest to the online Uritalianwines customers and why?
If I have to choose one I would say the FOSCO. I would suggest it to everybody for many reasons. First of all because this is an exclusivity of the Salvano cellar. Then because is very typical of our little town Diano d’Alba and it is produced with 100% Dolcetto grapes which belong to the town. This is a simple wine to drink but full of our company tradition. We can consider it as our business card in a bottle shape.
