The Travaglini Winery is one of the most iconic establishments in Gattinara DOCG, in Northern Piedmont, at the foot of Monte Rosa. Its history begins in 1920 when Clemente Travaglini founded the first family winery in the center of Gattinara, realizing the great potential of the area and of Nebbiolo cultivated on volcanic and mineral-rich soils. From that moment on, the company grew slowly but steadily, always maintaining a strong family and territorial identity. The real turning point came in 1958 with Giancarlo Travaglini, who began a phase of profound innovation: he introduced his own bottling and above all designed the famous “crooked” bottle, today the symbol of the winery. This particular shape is not only aesthetic but functional, because it helps naturally retain sediment and facilitates the serving of wine without decanting, as well as protecting the wine from light thanks to the dark glass. Today the winery is led by the fourth and fifth generations of the family, with an approach that combines tradition and modernity. The connection with the territory remains central: the vineyards are located among the Gattinara hills, on volcanic soils rich in iron and minerals, a unique characteristic that gives the wines a marked minerality, freshness, and aging capacity. Another distinctive element is the very rigorous production philosophy: each vineyard is vinified separately to enhance its specific characteristics, with great attention to the details of fermentation and refinement. The goal is to preserve the identity of Nebbiolo and the surrounding area as much as possible, without stylistic distortions.
