Descrizione vino

Taurasi wine takes its name from a city and praises the DOCG denomination. Its production is allowed only in the district of Avellino. The origins of the variety date back to the period before the Romans domination. This wine is produced with Aglianico, that was called “hellenico”, to underline its Greek origins. The etymology of the name “Taurasi” come from Taurasia, a little village that was conquered by the Romans in the 80 a.C. 100% Aglianico, cultivated in the area of Torre le Nocelle, near Avellino. The plants, 4000 stumps per hectare, are trained with Guyot method and reach a production of 60 quintals per hectare. The manual harvest is planned in November, with an attentive selection of the grapes. It is then followed by maceration and fermentation at controlled temperature.

 

Features of the red wine “Taurasi”

The aspect shows a ruby red colour with garnet reflections. The perfume is wide, it recalls intense hints of fruits, flowers and spices. Its taste is rich, warm, enchantig, structured, with soft tannins and a good persistence.

 

Recommended food pairings while tasting this red wine

“Taurasi DOCG” produced by Dodiciettari has an important structure that made it perfect for elaborated dishes. It is excellent with red meat, game and aged cheese. You have to try it with duck dressed with balsamic vinegar. It has to be served at 18°C in a wide wine glass that helps oxygenation. The alcoholic strength is 14% Vol.
