Sherazade Nero d'Avola DOC Sicilia Donnafugata
This fascinating and prestigious Red wine is fresh and fruity with pleasant tannin. In the wonderful bouquet there are some currant, black cherry and little berries aromas in addition to some balsamic and mineral scents. This wine is produced in a cellar located in the core of the west Sicily where the vineyards are part of the landscape, Donnafugata cultivates in 10 different districts different vines almost all Sicilian. This is a choice to valorize the peculiarity of the different agronomic aspects such as the soil, the altitude and the exposition with the different varieties to produce complex and important wines. By joining these elements is produced the red wine Sherazade di Nero d’Avola DOC. It is a perfect summer wine, suitable for a friend dinner or for an appetizer during the sunset.
Characteristics of the Sherazade DOC wine
The wine is made of 100% Nero d’Avola grapes. The proof is between the 12,5 and the 13,5 degrees . The Nero d’Avola grapes are cultivated with the counter method. This aspect in addition to the pruning technic produces an annual production of 75 q. per hectare. The wine making process starts in September with the picking. The grapes stay in steel with a maceration of the peels for about 8 days at 24 – 26° Degrees. The malolactic fermentation takes place naturally and it follows a 2 months of refinement in tanks. Finally it takes 3 months for the bottle refinement. It is produced a prestigious and characteristic wine with a ruby red color with purple reflections. The scent is marked by red fruits aroma such as cherry, black cherry and prune. The taste is full, dry with a pleasant spicy aftertaste. It is suitable for those who doesn’t like the rich red wines because it has a soft structure, seducing, fresh and light at the same time.

It is perfect to be eaten with pasta with tomato sauce, braised fish, cold cuts and medium aged cheeses. It is very good also with pizza. The traditional recipes joint it with “pasta alla norma” with tomato sauce, fried aubergines, and grate aged cheese. It is also good with an aubergine pie. It has to be served in medium big wine glass such as the Ballon. It doesn’t need any settling time and the service temperature has to be between the 14° and the 16°C to fully appreciate the floral scent.
