Rosso di Montalcino "Banditella" DOC
The Rosso Di Montalcino “Banditella” wine of the prestigious Col D’Orcia of Tuscany is a red wine of Montalcino coming from the Siena province in the Sant'Angelo in Colle in Pena DOC area. The cultivation soils are exposed at South-east at 300 meters above the sea level. This exceptional wine took its name by the area from which it comes from and it was planted in 1998 where the Sangiovese clones have been selected with a consultation of the Florence university which lasts 10 years. The Banditella vineyard gives one of the best expression of the Sangiovese grapes. The wine making process starts with the medium-long maceration in short and wide barrels at 28°C to keep the fruit fresh and long-living. It occurs two daily pressing combined to 2 délestages the 3rd and 5th day of fermentation. These passages help the extraction of the peels but also the keeping of the colors and tannins. Finally it takes place the malolactic fermentation and the aging period in barrels (Allier, Fontainebleau, Blois oaks) where it rests for more than one year.
