Descrizione vino

This traditional red wine of Friuli truly represents the feature of its region. It is produced with a precious indigene variety that can be found only in these lands, because it has been never planted in other areas. The grapes used for Refosco Ferretti are cultivated on soils full of iron that give its unique taste. 100% Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso trained with Guyot method (5500 stumps per hectare. The wine making process starts with 25 days maceration followed by 12 days fermentation. The aging is managed in oak barrels for 18/24 months and the evolution continues in the bottles for further 2 years.

 

Charatteristics of the Refosco DOC wine produced by Luisa Winery

Garnet red colour with intense violet shades. Its perfume is full and pleasant and recalls wild blackberry and undergrowth. The taste is savoury and bitter, where the presence of tannins can be perceived. Good persistence and great final. With the right aging in the bottle, it becomes gentler and more elegant. It joins perfectly the features of the variety with a strong regional identity.

 

Recommended food pairings with this red wine from Fruli

This Refosco “I Ferretti” is fabulous with savoury dishes and with meat sauces. It is excellent wit roasted or braised red meat and even with game. It is great with aged and spicy cheeses. It has to be served around 18°C.
