The fantastic white wine of the renowned winery Donnafugata produces the "Prio", synonymous, in the Sicilian dialect, of joy and happiness, this is the new monovarietal of Donnafugata. A wine that fully represents the trend of research and innovation that the company has been carrying out for years on indigenous Sicilian varieties. Prio is produced with Catarratto grapes, it is an intriguing and sensual wine that gives joy to the first sip. It belongs to the type of white obtained from 100% pure Catarratto grapes and has the DOC certification. The vineyards are reared at the farm’s production area located south-west of Sicily, on the estate of Contessa Entellina and in the surrounding areas, at an altitude of between 200 and 600 meters above sea level. The topography is hilly, the soils have geological characteristics typical of the Franco-clayey soils with sub-alkaline reaction with pH from 7,5 to 7,9. They are rich in nutrients such as potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron, manganese and zinc. The vineyard is reared with the system of the espalier, with wooden poles and steel wires; the pruning to spurred cordon, reaches a planting density from 4,500 to 6,000 plants per hectare. The yield per hectare is about 65 quintals per hectare of land planted with vines. Catarratto intended for the production of Prio was harvested in the first decade of September.

The organoleptic examination gives a brilliant and limpid straw yellow color wine, Prio di Donnafugata, offers a delicate and subtle bouquet characterized by hints of white flowers such as elder. The mouthfeel is broad and fragrant with pleasant citrus scents including cedar and bergamot. The finish is long and persistent. A wine that gives joy sip after sip.
