Descrizione vino

This is a traditional red wine of Sicily that praises the IGT denomination “Terre Siciliane”. It is produced with 100% Nero d’Avola grapes, cultivated in the area of Mazara del Vallo, in the district of Trapani. The vineyards are located in the north west part of the region, where the soil is characterized by pebbles and a good quantity of minerals. The elevation swings between 100 and 150 meters above the sea level. The plants are trained with cordon spur pruning method and the average density of the cultivation is 5000 stumps per hectare. The climate is the typical Mediterranean one, characterized by windy summer and warm winter. The harvest begins in the third decade of September and ends in the first week of October, depending on the maturation of the grapes. The wine-making starts with soft pressing and elimination of stalks. The maceration on skins lasts around 30 days, depending on the vintage. The fermentation is managed at controlled temperature, set between 26-30°C. 18 months aging in big barrels made of oak, followed by further 6 months in the bottle, in order to fix and express its best features.

 

Features of “Nero d’Avola BESI”

This wine is characterized by a ruby red colour full of violet shades. Its perfume is intense and recalls mature red fruits, graphite, rue and violet. The taste is balanced and characterized by soft tannins

 

Recommended food pairings while tasting this red wine produced by Assuli

Excellent with baked meat and medium-aged cheeses. It has to be served at 16°C in a wide wine glass that helps the oxygenation. 14% Alcohol.
