Greco di Tufo "1" DOCG DODICIETTARI
Greco di Tufo is a wine that praises the denomination DOCG. It can be produced only in 8 villages in the district of Avellino. The vine variety has been brought in the village of Tufo from explorers of the north of Greece in the 1st century b.C. Plinio “il Vecchio” told that Greco di Tufo was “so precious, that during the banquets, it was served only once”. 100% Greco di Tufo, cultivated in the vineyards around Santa Paolina, near Avellino. The plants, around 4000 stumps per hectare, are trained with Guyot method and reach a production of 50 quintals per hectare. The manual harvest is planned during the first decade of October and it is followed immediately by elimination of stalks and soft pressing. Fermentation at controlled temperature, set around 16°C.
Features of the white wine “Greco di Tufo”
The organoleptic aspect shows a straw yellow colour with gold reflections. Its perfume is balanced and persistent, with typical aromas of citrus fruits, broom flowers and apple. The taste is dry, bitter but pleasant. It represents the perfect balance between sourness and alcohol. The taste is really delicate and harmonious.
Recommended food pairings while tasting this great white wine
Perfect with crustaceans, fish and seafood, it goes on well with vegetables, cheese and rice with mushrooms too. Its minerality helps the marriage with white meats, appetizers and fresh starters. It has to be served at 8°C.
